Project Description
The Rio Grande Depot was originally constructed in 1910 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Okland restored, renovated and seismically upgraded the historic building and built a 36,000sf State of Utah Archives Building addition, preserving the unique architecture and artwork. The Archive addition houses more than 24,000sf of permanent records storage with an Automated Records Storage System and 13,000sf of various patron support space. Micrographing, records processing, and conservation functions are housed in 11,000sf of remodeled space within the existing Rio Grande Depot Building as well. A subsurface connection between the two buildings facilitates the movement of materials and staff.
